Dark Dynasties: Meet the Dracul

Okay, a little more alive today, so here's another of the Dark Dynasties...the very famous, and much-maligned, Dracul.  Not exactly Count Dracula, but it was fun to take that legend and put some twists on it!
The Dracul are the youngest of the dynasties, led by a man whose strength and charisma have made him a legend in the mortal world and a feared adversary in his own.  Though he is little like the stories that are told of him, Vlad Dracul only gained legitimacy for his bloodline though his incredible tenacity, a dogged determination to grasp his way to the top of vampire society, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.  Though the ability to change into an animal is frowned upon by most highbloods, considered too much like the loathed werewolves banned from their cities, the Dracul are able to assume the form of the bat, allowing them a degree of stealth that even the disdainful envy.  Still, despite the grudging respect they have earned among many, the Dracul are well aware that their position is always precarious…and that the Ptolemy will never stop looking for a way to remove them from the halls of power.

I think someday Vlad may need to have his own book...he's hot, and not at all how you'd expect.  I don't know...would you read yet another character based on Dracula?

  1. Well just look at you up among the living! I'm loving these snippets you're giving us! And of course, duh, we'll read another book that had a character based on Dracula. Of course I'm sure that you'll put your own spin on it and that is what will set this particular Vlad apart from all the others!

I loaned a friend my copies of the Sookie Stackhouse books (True Blood) and we got into a conversation about Vampires. I found it interesting that my friend was such a purist when it came to her Vamps. No sparkly vamps for her. No special rings that allow them to be out in the light of day, etc. I agree to a point, though, Spike found a ring once, and that was just okey dokey with me! But that was Spike and well, I needn't say anymore on that. I like when the vamps follow the original folklore, but hey, as long as they are sexy HAWT I'm good.

  3. Hi Lisa! Yes, reasonably alive. It could be better, but it could be a LOT worse! I'm glad to ehar you think Vlad would be interesting...I really would like to give him a book. He's...different. A sexy blond, in fact! LOL at your friend. I'm not into sparkly vampires. HOWEVER, if they're still basically vampires, I'll accept a lot. I like fun twists. Like, erm, vampires who can turn into cats *cough*

Hi Ana! YAY for having your internet back! And thanks...I'm excited about the new design too! It's all fancy and professional:-)
