Dark Awakening Giveaway!

It's Friday!  Friday, Friday, gettin' down on...oh, God, forget I sang that.  Anyway, a couple of days ago, I received a most excellent surprise from the fabulous Latoya Smith: four hot off the press copies of my book!  They are gorgeous.  So, so gorgeous.  I was on my way out, so I grabbed one and forced all the parents at my youngest kid's preschool to observe its beauty.  Probably they were afraid, but I was excited:-)

In any case, I gave a copy to the graphic artist who did the Dynasty tattoos for me, and I'm hanging onto a couple until my actual box of author copies arrives, but I thought it would be fun to give one away.  Because, hey, Friday, free stuff, it's all good.  I'm not going to get fancy, just do a drawing, so if you'd like to be entered let me know in the comments.  Contest open until midnight tonight (PST), and I'll announce the winner tomorrow.

And for discussion, since I started with that awful earworm of a song (the Epic Mullet Guy version is way better), what other sings make you crazy in a "this sucks but it won't leave me alooooone" kind of way?  A recent one for me was Nickelback's "This Afternoon" (you click that link at your own risk...some of the band is cute, but the video quickly becomes obnoxious bimbo overload).  Yes, I know there are a lot of Nickelback fans out there.  I'm not one of them, belonging to the prestigious Every Time a Nickelback Song is Played, God Kills a Llama group on facebook.  And yet, despite my lunging to change the channel every time I heard the opening chords of that song, there it would stick.  Sometimes for days. *shudder*  Share you pain, win free stuff.  It's all good!

Happy Friday, everyone!

  1. I would LOVE to win a copy of your book. I've been patiently awaiting release day. :-)

Anyways, the song that sticks in my EVERDAY is "the SpongeBob Square Pants" theme song. My son watches that every day before school and I find myself singing that damn song hours after he left. "who lives in a pineapple under the sea??.....Spongebob Squarepants" UGH!!!!

  2. I would love a copy of your newest series.

My nemesis song would be the Barney song. My special needs son, who is autistic and has cerebral palsy, would be calmed by watching Barney when he was small. Therefore, we had 8 hours taped. Imagine hearing that at the closing of each show for hours....shudder.

  6. Really? You hate Nickelback that much? I think Chad Kroger (sp?) is HOT! And I like his low, raspy voice. I will grant you that the 'Afternoon' song was over-played and it is not one of my favorites. I will even go so far as to say it was annoying-But I love Savin' Me. It's a great ballad. I also love the song he did for the Spider Man movie-Hero-but he sang that with another band I think. And some of their more, er, racey songs are kinda fun!

Cool that you moved forward with the tattoos! I can just see you pimping that cover with all the other moms at preschool!

    Hope you're feeling better!

  7. LOL, you all are cracking me up! Children's songs...yes, they are eeeeevil.

CJ, I have Spongebob-addicted kids too, and I've had that song stuck in my head many times. I feel your pain!

Margie, oh, man, Barney...yeah, that's bad. My youngest was into Teletubbies for a while when he was younger, and I used to wander around singing "Tinky Winky! Dipsy! La La! Po!" Sometimes I still do...it never ends.

Christy, totally, what is it about men and that show? My friend's husband has like every Phineas and Ferb song on his iPhone. Men. *shakes head*

Gracie, LOL, nooooo, that's one of the most famous earworms of all time! You put de lime in de coconut...oh God...it's in my head...aagghhhhh!

bigstevesdaughter, yes, it is an EXCELLENT start to summer! Of course, Stella chewed the crap out of one of my flip flops this morning. Dog with bog mouth = major shoe damage in short amounts of time:-)

Lisa, yes, I'm coming out of the closet as a Nickelback hater, LOL. Naw, I mean, I don't DESPISE them, but most of their songs I don't like, and the radio plays them...and plays them...and PLAYS them! That song in particular made/makes me nuts. I will grant you, however, that the one song by them I LIKE is Savin' Me. But one person's earworm disaster is another person's delight! I am actually a congested wreck today, but in a fairly good mood despite it all. I love the sunshine!

Well I got to go and read your book now. Good luck to everyone

  9. One of my blogging buddies sent me over here, recommending you (Kristina at My World of Books. oh look, she commented above me!). I'd love to win a copy! How awesome.

I'm sooo not going to go there with the annoying songs, If I think about them they will never go away! Ahh!

Usually, it's some kid song from my daughter's shows. LOL.

  11. Hi Kristina! Thank you sooo much for retweeting this:-) Hope you enjoy the rest of the book!

Jennifer, nice to meet you! Kristina is awesome:-) LOL at the Songs That Must Not Be Named. The kid show songs are the worst. Or just kid songs in general. I worked a a Gymboree for a little while years ago, and there were a couple of tapes we played on a loop...I used to hear that stuff in my sleep, and it was AWFUL.

Hi Donna! *waving* Gaga can definitely get in your head. I've had Edge of Glory stuck in mine for like three days now. I still like the song, but if this keeps up, I dunno! have a great weekend too!

  12. I would love a copy of the new book.
I would have to say the song that drives me insane every time I hear it is chromeo's mommas boy. I can never get it out of my head.

  13. Hi Rose! Okay, I had to go look that one up. And I'm afraid if I listen to it again, I'll never stop hearing it! Definitely the kind of song that would drive most normal people insane when it sticks on "repeat".

  14. OMG Book! OMG BoOk! I want one! I want one! LOl. Sorry, I think I got a little excited. Lately I've had that stupid Blow song by Kesha. It's really dumb but it won't get out of my head.

  15. Diva Donna is not the only one jumping up and down *waving*...so is Queen YAH-YAH:) I've only read one of your books so far and I NEED to read more.

The song that probably annoyed me the most in my life was Mack The Knife by Bobby Darin. I hated it back in the '50's and I still hate it 50 years later. I have no idea why I always found it such an irritation but I did...for years it was played ad nauseaum.

  16. *laughing* Ana, I love the enthusiasm:-) Yeah, I get that one stuck in my head too. I kind of like that one, but I was always getting We R Who We R stuck in my head too and I haaaaaate that one.

Nancy! I'm jumping up and down and waving back! It doesn't surprise me that Mack the Knife was overplayed. It's got that *thing* about it. I remember it being modified for some stupid commercial when I was younger, and I found it very annoying too!
