Happy Friday! I'm...not exactly sure where this week went on me. Well, okay, I am a little, since I've resumed my passionate love affair with my Nook and am happily devouring Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter books (I'll be finishing Archangel's Kiss today). The story is, of course, right up my alley (Angels! Vampires! Everyone is hot and many are snarky!), but her voice is the kicker. Juuuust right, drew me right in. I would like a man-harem of the Seven, please. As soon as they can be delivered. And of course, I'll have to read her Psy-Changeling series after this. Hooray for getting into an author when she has a big backlist for me to enjoy!
So, a small announcement, and then I'll open the floor to discussion so somebody can win a signed copy of Dark Awakening, since I have another to give! It looks like I WILL be doing at least a couple of HOT short stories for Nocturne's new Cravings line, which will be available online only (this is a more erotic counterpart to their Bites line). I've just gotten the thumbs up on the outlines I did, so I couldn't tell you yet when these will be available, but I think quite early in 2012 with the schedule I've set up. I will, of course, keep you posted! I'm going to a dark faerie tale place with these, which should be a lot of fun!
Aaaaand now, the (very non-fancy) contest: like last time, open until midnight PST. I'll do a drawing, assisted by my lovely hat-owning, paper-selecting daughter. Just let me know if you'd like to be entered in the comments! And for discussion, since I have the summer ahead and am determined to carve out more reading time on my brand spankin' new screened-in porch, what are the books you have REALLY loved this year? Did you grab one that really lit a fire under you, like "OMG MUST KEEP READING NOM NOM NOM" (or something like that)? I love to hear what people are reading, esp. because I love a book I can sink my teeth into myself:-) I mean, you don't even want to know how excited I am that Dmitri's Guild Hunter story is coming out in September. *happy sigh* Oh, and please check out this AWESOME review from the amazing Kristina! She has a great book review site going, and I am completely tickled that she loved Dark Awakening so much! Click HERE for the goodness!

ReplyDeleteHmmm....there are so many good books. I just finished reading The Hunger Games trilogy, which I thought was amazing. Stayed up all night finishing the second one :)
P.S. LOVE the picture up top!!
Ooh hot short stories! Hot short stories! Can you tell I'm excited? LOL. I've been working so much I haven't had too much of a chance to read lately but I just finished Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts and it's incredible how it's written. (I mean I know it's Nora Roberts but still). The movie for it comes out on Lifetime in 2 weeks :D
ReplyDeleteAlso anything Maya Banks is incredible, have I mentioned that before? And Cheryl just came out with Virgin and Crystal Jordan has a new book out.
And have I told you how excited I am to read Dark Awakening? LOL.
Oh yeah the picture for this blog post is great too!
ReplyDeleteHi Christy! Okay, I'm glad to hear that, because I downloaded a sample from The Hunger Games and enjoyed it...would really like to read those this summer! Thanks for the recommendation. Plus, obviously I'm going to need to read the books before the movies come out! Glad you like the pic. I have a small stash of angel pictures...love a man with wings:-)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely like to be entered into the contest. I am dying to get my hands on Dark Awakening. Books I have LOVED this year are Dragon Bound (Thea Harrison) it was Amazing! Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Kresley Cole) I have no words for. I could not put it down til I was done...utter perfection. Eternal Hunger and Eternal Kiss by Laura Wright were also amazing. I could prob mention more but my post will be to big. Good luck to everyone.

Hi Ana! LOL, I'm glad you're excited!! I may have read Carnal Innocence. Nora can DEFINITELY write a book! I'd like to read The Search now that it's a bit cheaper than hardback. I've never read Maya Banks (I really do feel like I've been living in a cave for a while now, it's sad), so I'll give her a try! I really love, love, LOVE the free samples on the Nook so I can try before I buy. I downloaded like six things the other night before choosing Angel's Blood. Oh, and I am DEFINITELY reading Virgin...Cheryl is an automatic read for me!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla! Ooh, a dragon book. Must have a look at that. I will never get my fill of dragon heroes:-) Will check out samples of the others for SURE...esp. the Kresley Cole book, that is some HIGH praise! I love books I can't put down!
ReplyDeleteHi Kendra, I would love to win your books! :D
ReplyDeleteThe best book I really loved this year is Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh! OMG, this book is the best! I read it 3-4 times, then I read Angel's Blood and Archangel's Kiss again. I can't put it down. Guild Hunter is one of my favorite series :D

Two thumbs up to The Search. I got the audio book and loved it!
ReplyDeleteHi Ren! I actually just, like ten minutes ago, finished Archangel's Kiss, and I am completely with you on the "Guild Hunters is AWESOME" train! Best thing I have read in a loooong time!! So now I have to buy Archangel's Consort, of course, and listen to my husband complain some more about the money I am sinking into my Nook, LOL. Glad you came by!
ReplyDeleteAna, awesome, that's good to know!
Wow! Major congrats Kendra! I can't wait to see what you do with erotica! I've heard tons of good things about the Thea Harrison book, Dragon Bound. I'm looking forward to reading it. One of my most anticipated releases was Kiss Of Snow, but Nalini Singh. I got to read it over the weekend-very good.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Hi Kendra! Since you are reading the Guild Hunters right now, then I'll second Carla's suggestion of Dragon Bound (Thea Harrison). Raphael and Dragos have a lot in common, you will love it! Kristina Douglas has two angel books out that I really enjoyed as well.
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in the contest and have a great weekend!
I'm exited about reading your Dark Awakening and your New Erotica attempt. My Reading has been slowed down by too much time on Role playing on FB. But I have read this past month. But My RP: I have a Vampire husband born 280 BC. He's learned lot of tricks over the centuries, he needs them to keep me out of trouble. You could read about us in "Hungry about You" by Lynsay Sands. I'm presently reading "Heart of the Highland Wolf" by Terry Spears if you want to know what's under the kilts. And I read about Sookie Stackhouse "Dead Reckoning" by Charlene Harris and I think you'll love entering the world of the others "Eternal Flame" and "I'll be Slaying You" by Cynthia Eden I read recently and couldn't put down. And Christine Warren's "Black Magic Woman" and if you haven't read her "One Bite with a Stranger" you really need too. That was my first visit with the others and erotic Paranomal ever. Holy-Moly!! Please put my name in the grab bag. Have a Great Weekend. My Nooks getting heavy loaded with all those great books.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa! Tthat one's on my list... you'll have to tell me how you like it if you get to it first!
ReplyDeleteLizzielvr, a name like Dragos is bound to draw me in every time! I'll have to check out Kristina Douglas. Thanks!!
Hey Donna! Okay, I'm laughing because that still sounds like a LOT of books! Glad you're enjoying RP on FB...that husband of yours sounds like a handful:-) I'll put your name in the grab bag, definitely...have an awesome weekend!

I also love PC Cast's Goddess of the Rose...I got to meet her at RWA in DC, she's incredibly cool, very nice. Will check Carey out especially, these sound great! Thanks!
ReplyDeletebigstevesdaughter, LOL, that word...it'll always remind me of Vizzini!
I just finished reading the last of Christine Feehans Dark Series. I really loved that series. And I just bought the last two Nocturnes and finished those in 2 days. So I think that I may look for the Guild Hunter series and see how I like those. I have a lot of books on my bookshelf of "to-read", but I'm missing several that are in a series.
ReplyDeleteWould love a copy of your new book also.
I'd love to be entered! :)
ReplyDeleteMy faves so far:
The Fever series, by Karen M. Moning
Blood Rights, by Kristen Painter (comes out in October!)
Divergent, buy Veronica Roth
The first two books in the Lords of the Underworld series, by Gena Showalter
Dark Lover, by J.R. Ward
I have so many more! This has been an amazing year in book reading for me!

Please enter me into the contest!
ReplyDeleteI have just finished rereading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series since the new book will be here in August and I love to be fresh on all of the characters, I am also half way through Gena Showalter's newest book to her series Lords of the underworld.
Both authors are amazing and they both have books that make you forget there are things to get done in the house and people surrounding you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
Hi Jaylee! I've got the first couple Dark Hunter books here...I enjoyed them a lot, just haven't gotten any further into the series. One of these days! My TBR list is ridiculous, and I'm always adding to it:-) Definitely try the Guild Hunter books, I am LOVING them!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer A! Karen Marie Moning's magical Highlanders were some of my first loves:-) Adam Black...Yummmm. I've heard Kristen Painter's book Heart of Fire is awesome. Have you read that one?
Hi Rose! Gena Showalter is AMAZING. I love that she can write steamy sex, intense drama, and then have me cracking up all in the space of a few pages. That's a gift! Thanks for the suggestions.
