Morning, everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend. We did...went to a neighborhood block party, enjoyed some good beer and good company, and I got my hair did (ha ha) so there's no white peeking through when I head for New York at the end of the month. It's so annoying to be going white at this age. Thank you, genetics. I'm so excited for RWA this year! I even got on the elliptical last night! Those of you who've been around for a while know about my love/hate struggle with exercise. I was doing great with the P90X thing until a couple kids went down with pneumonia earlier in the spring. Haven't managed to get back on that yet, but I will. Just...not yet. It takes an hour and a half every night that I don't quite have right now, but the elliptical I can do...if you saw the dresses I've got lined up for the conference, you would totally understand the need for this:-) I'm so psyched I've got my iPhone now, it'll be way easier to take pictures.
Anyway, this is Music Monday, and I do have a song for you! This is one I played a LOT while mulling all things Dark Dynasties, and I think it's a great song for Ty and Lily. You should know I'm a Duran Duran fan from way back...my parents had Seven and the Ragged Tiger on vinyl and I played that thing OUT. I'm so glad to see them back in such great form. Anyway, check out Before the Rain, and have a great one!

Your *parents* had that on vinyl? Oh man, I am old.
ReplyDeleteI love the song! It does scream Lily and Ty
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure out the work out thing, it isn't working so well for me. I think I just need to get a gym membership and go to classes a few times a week. I think that might me my only motivation. ugh I hate gyms!
LMAO, Cate...nooo, you're not old! But, um, yeah, I was like eight or nine. I still thought they were hot:-)
ReplyDeleteHey Kristina! Glad you like it, I love this song. I wish you luck with the work out thing. Every time I think I've finally gotten in the habit, I find something else to do. My problem is just a fundamental dislike of exercise. I'm not sure how to get over that!
I love Duran Duran's old stuff and I am old-but vinyl, really? I have CDs of their older stuff, but no records-I guess I didn't really find them till early 90's. When exactly did music stop coming out on vinyl anyway? Curious.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great song...will have to check into it!
And I don't even want to talk about exercise.
Hey Lisa! Well, Seven and the Ragged Tiger came out in '84...I was seven. Seems like that was shortly before mom started buying everything on cassette, but I could be wrong. And I remember getting really excited about my first CD player in, hmm, '91? But it took a while for the cassettes to really be phased out, and my player was a combo deal. I made a lot of mix tapes during that fabulously angsty (ugh) time in my life. They still make vinyl, but it's more of a novelty now, and some DJs use it. Glad you like the song! LOL about the exercise. Me either, really. But the skirt on one of those dresses says otherwise!
ReplyDeleteI was working in a record store (and driving my coworkers crazy by playing Duran Duran over the store speakers) when cassettes finally outsold vinyl. It was only a few years more before CDs took over. I let my vinyl collection go long ago, but I once had it all from DD...including some 45s on the original Harvest label. Probably worth a mint on eBay now. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteHomemade mix tapes were one of my favorite was to enjoy the full-day drive home from college. I've kept a few, even though I have nothing to play them on anymore...
Nick was my favorite long ago, though I might I lean toward Simon now.
On yeah I will go to RWA! *Shakes fist* LOL. I have a love/hate relationship with exercise too. If it's not a fun exercise I don't want to do it lol.
